NIPT, Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing, is one of the most accurate early screening tests available during pregnancy. A small blood sample is taken from your arm from 10 weeks of pregnancy.
It analyses fragments of your baby’s DNA that are naturally present in your bloodstream, screening for three chromosomal conditions: Down’s syndrome (trisomy 21), Edwards’ syndrome (trisomy 18) and Patau’s syndrome (trisomy 13). You can also choose to find out the sex of your baby at the same time.
NIPT carries no risk to your pregnancy. It is not a diagnostic test, it tells you the statistical likelihood of a condition being present, not a definitive yes or no, but it is significantly more accurate than NHS combined screening, with detection rates of over 99% for Down’s syndrome.
What makes this different
Many NIPT services simply send you a result by email. That is not how I work. As a former specialist screening midwife, I have extensive experience supporting women and families through screening results — including results that bring unexpected news. When you receive your NIPT result, I am here. We will go through it together. Whatever your result, you will not be navigating it alone.

"Having Tracy there was like having a warrior in the room, she advocated for us so that we didn't feel we had to. We could just focus on meeting our baby."

Advocacy, to me, means something specific. It means knowing your wishes so thoroughly that I can ask the questions you didn't know to ask, suggest alternatives you weren't offered, and work collaboratively with your care team to find the best possible path, with knowledge, with respect, and without you ever feeling lost or alone.
Whatever happens, you will always know what your options are. And you will always feel like the person at the centre of your own care.
